Emergency First Aid at Work


 

Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day)

This full one day course is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid when dealing with an emergency situation.  It is therefore, ideal for smaller workplaces that present fewer health and safety risks.

 

The aim of the qualification is to enable candidates to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations.  

Topics covered include:

  • Roles and responsibilities of first aiders
  • First aid incident assessment
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • How to administer effective Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of AED
  • How to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  • How to treat bleeding and shock
  • How to treat minor injuries
  • Optional: Catastrophic Bleeding and Tourniquets

 

A certificate valid for 3 years, is issued upon successful completion of the practical assessments and multiple choice question examination.

 

Be aware that the first aid conditions of asthma, epilepsy, allergies and poisoning, diabetes, heart conditions and fractures are not covered on this particular course.  If your risk assessment identifies these conditions as hazards, then you should consider completing the three day First Aid at Work course.
