First Aid at Work Re-qualification Course (2 Days)

This re-qualification course is for those people who wish to renew their First Aid at Work certificate. Therefore the course is compliant with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

All persons passing the final assessment will receive a First Aid at Work Certificate valid for 3 years, plus an individual plastic credit card sized copy.

The syllabus includes:

  • How to deal with the unconscious casualty
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of AED
  • Choking
  • Control of major bleeding and Shock
  • Stroke, heart attack and angina
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Poisons
  • Burns and scalds
  • Bone fractures and soft tissue injury
  • Duties of employers & first aiders
  • Record keeping
  • Optional: Catastrophic Bleeding and Tourniquets

 

If the first aider does not retrain or requalify before the expiry date on their current certificate, they are no longer considered as competent to act as a first aider in the workplace.  

 

FAW requalification courses can be booked any time before the expiry date on the current First Aid at Work certificate. The new certificate will then be effective for three years from the date of course completion. However if this is not possible, certificates should not have expired by more than one month or, up to three months if during the preceeding three years they have completed one annual refresher course.  Otherwise candidates will be required to attend the full 3 day First Aid at Work course to regain the qualification.  

 

Note that candidates are required to produce their current FAW certificate to the trainer prior to commencing the course.
